Reproduction in Small Animals Course under the scientific responsibility of the European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction EVSSAR
OVERVIEW
The 2010 course is designed for veterinarians wishing to broaden their knowledge and level of competency in the continuously developing field of small animal reproduction.
This training program will include both fundamental as well as recent clinical advancements and will be mainly structured on problem solving teaching and case based oriented learning. At the end of this course, the attending veterinarians will be able to possess the level of competency necessary to solve most of the problems in daily practice and kennel management. This education may serve in the alternative pathway to become recognised as a specialist in small animal reproduction.
This Small Animal Reproduction course is open to new-comers without any special requirements / restrictions.

Mammary Gland
- Pseudopregnancy, Mastitis
- Mammary hyperl. in cats
- Mammary tumors in dogs and cats
- Treatment of mammary tumors: principle of surgery, analgesia, chemotherapy
- Practical course: surgery of mammary tumors
Andrology
- Infertility in male dogs (general lecture)
- Prostate: Diagnostic workup and medical therapy of prostatic diseases, surgery of the prostate
- Testes: Diagnostic workup of testicular disease, clinical cases incl. cytology of testes and prostate
Reproduction in Cats: Physiology and Pathology of Reproduction
- Gonadectomy: pros and cons in dogs and cats
- Urinary Incontinence: workup and treatment
- Vaginal, vestibular and vulvar diseases
Infertility
- Diagnostic workup and treatment of infertility in bitches and queens
- Pathology of the uterus
- Clinical cases incl. histology of the uterus (workup in groups)
Parturition
Physiology and pathology of parturition: not always a clear cut
- Clinical cases (workup in groups)
Neonatology
- Clinical presentation: haematology, biochemistry, normal vs. abnormal findings
- Immunity in neonates, infectious diseases, vaccination, deworming
- Congenital abnormalities
- Isoerythrolysis in kittens
- Medical treatment, fluid therapy, anasthesia in puppies and kitten
