Advanced Veterinary Dentistry Course

OVERVIEW

This 2014 ESAVS advanced course will cover following topics: Oral soft tissue medicine and surgery, Oral hard tissue medicine and surgery, Oral Neoplasms, Oral medicine and surgery and Jaw disorders.


TOPICS

Perioperative management of maxillofacial surgery patients
1. Anaesthesia and analgesia
2. Special care (tracheostomy, pharyngostomy, tube feeding, control of blood loss, transfusion)
3. Regional anatomy
4. Craniofacial imaging

Oral soft tissue medicine and surgery
1. Tongue disorders
2. Lip disorders
3. Regional lymphnodes disorders
4. Tonsils disorders
5. To master tonsils, tongue and lip surgery

Oral hard tissue medicine and surgery
1. Jaw fractures: Epidemiology, biomechanical considerations, treatment options, materials, osteosynthesis, splints
2. Disorders affecting jaw motion: Clinical presentations, differential diagnosis, treatment of luxations, treatment of ankylosis
3. Palatal defects: Clinical presentations, surgical techniques, prosthetic techniques
4. To master non-surgical treatments of jaw fractures
5. To master flap techniques for palatal surgery

Oral Neoplasms
1. Oral neoplasms: Classification, biological behaviour, diagnosis, lymph node assessment, treatment, medical support
2. Surgical treatment principles of oral neoplasms
3. Non-resective treatment of oral neoplasms
4. To master mandibulectomy
5. To master maxillectomy
